Weather protection is an essential element of successful outdoor dining places. Restaurant owners who rely on high-grade solutions, do not only benefit from the sunny days of summer. CARAVITA parasols provide various interesting approaches to the topic.
It is a long known fact among successful restaurant owners: In the hospitality business parasols have to be capable of doing more than just providing shade. Protection against rain and cold becomes increasingly important because outdoor areas only work when they are dry and comfortable. CARAVITA, manufacturer of parasols based in Germany, has seen this upwards trend for a long time. They observe an increasing demand for high quality products which are able to provide this weather protection. For this reason, CARAVITA developed various possibilities for restaurateurs to protect their customers against the weather.
“In order for parasols to provide any weather protection at all, the construction has to be strong enough. Therefore we use aluminum frames with extra thick walls and diameters. For our hospitality parasol Big Ben even particulary long supporting profiles. This way we managed to accomplish results of up to 100 km/h in the wind tunnel.”, CEO Michael Caravita says.
Especially parasol Big Ben is very popular among quality-consious restaurateurs: The parasol is extremely wind resistant, durable and available in sizes up to 5 x 7 m. Therefore it is ideal to protect large areas against sun or rain. If more than one parasol is used, they can be connected with rain gutters. Those are attached to the parasol with velcro and hooks and can be removed when not needed. Protection against rain from the sides can be achieved with side panels. Those are custom made from acrylic awning fabric, i. e. with transpararent windows or doors for staff and guests.
The possibility to integrate heating and lighting into the parasol is another huge advantage of the Big Ben. Even on cold days and long evenings, guests will find a comfortable place below this parasol.
The extraordinary architecture and a relaxing fireplace lounge shape the interior of the restaurant which is also a well-known event location.
Host Benjamin Schmitz provides you with your favorite dishes which you can enjoy together with a good glass of wine. Bavarian food with a touch of international treats – it is an exotic mix which has convinced many guests before you. The hosts of course also take care of your little ones – the playing ground is the perfect place for them.
The beer garden outdoor area invites you to sit down and relax with an impressive view of the Alpine panorama. The extravagant ambience at “Zum Murnauer” is completed with Big Ben. For the flamboyant sun protection, which is available in over 100 colors, the “Murnauer” chose a vibrant pink canopy. It is visible from a long distance and is the signature colour of the event location near the lake “Staffelsee”. The seven parasols with its huge dimensions (4 x 6 m) offer a comfortable atmosphere and a place to linger in front of the wonderful panorama of the Alps. Stuttgart. The Mercedes-Benz wind tunnel. Tense faces looking at a console with flickering screens.
„10km/h more“, Michael Caravita demands.
The noise of the wind increases, becomes almost deafening. When the wind sensor finally shows the magic number, the noise of the wind is drowned by cheering – 100 km/h!
In the high-tech wind tunnel of Mercedes-Benz, usually cars have to show what their worth under the most adverse conditions. Today, umbrellas made by CARAVITA have to prove themselves in the fight against the elements. The tests show which improvements have a positive impact on the product, and these are then made ready for the market.
Caravita Big Ben 2 a great success
“We knew that our umbrellas withstand high stress. Nonetheless we’re overwhelmed by the incredible values that we have witnessed today.“, says Michael Caravita. “We’re particularly pleased about the benchmarks of the new BIG BEN 2. We’ve worked hard on further improving the construction of the giant umbrella Big Ben over the last year. The new BIG BEN 2 is now equipped with a flatter roof and longer U-profiles as support for the struts. Therefore we’re particularly proud of having reached the magic threshold of 100km/h with the 3x3m-version this umbrella!”
Of course, with high wind speeds it still is the best solution to close an umbrella. Nonetheless, high benchmarks make sense and are increasingly often asked for. Because even though nobody would like to sit on a terrace with these high wind speeds – ultimately, it is also important to provide a feeling of security and safety.
